Six ways in
Nobody can see a colour on a screen
Close, not exact. That is the truthful answer, and it is worth saying before you spend rather than after.
- Metallics are the worst of it
- Antique gold and bright gold read as the same photograph and nothing like each other on cloth. Antique is warmer and more forgiving; bright is louder and shows every join.
- Your screen is not our screen
- The same piece photographs differently under a mill light and renders differently again on your phone. We have not colour-corrected the shots, because a corrected photo lies more convincingly.
- Gold is the hardest of all
- A screen has one white and cloth has none. Zari catches the mill light and throws it back; a photograph flattens that into a colour, and the thing that makes a trim worth buying is the part the photograph cannot keep.

Six trims you choose, 60mm of each, stitched to a card the size of a postcard and sent to your table. Hold them under your own light, against the fabric you are actually matching.
Every length is labelled with its article number and its shade, so the one you liked is the one you can order — this year and next.

What is it called
Half the enquiries a trim shop gets are somebody describing a trim because they do not have the word for it. Here are the ones that come up most.
Zari
Zardozi threadMetallic thread, historically flattened silver or gold wound on a silk core, now most often a metallised polyester. It is what gives Indian borders their weight and their shine.
Dori
A corded outline couched onto the ground, used to draw the edge of a motif. It is the line that makes dense embroidery read as a shape rather than a mass.
Gota
Flat metallic ribbon applied as appliqué, folded and stitched into borders and floral shapes. Rajasthani in origin and near weightless for the amount of surface it covers.
Put-up
The length a trim is wound on, whether that is a spool, a card or a cut piece. Two shops quoting the same price per piece are not quoting the same thing unless the put-up matches.
Colourway
One colour version of a design. The same article number in twelve colourways is one design, not twelve.
Latkan
A hanging tassel or ornament, tied to blouse ties, dupatta corners and potli cords. Sold as a pair or a piece rather than by length.

Before you order
- Is there a minimum order?
- No. Everything is sold by the piece and one piece is the minimum, whether you are trimming a single blouse or a season's production.
- What is a piece?
- A wound length, not a metre. Most designs come on a nine metre put-up and some on eighteen. Every product page states its own put-up, because that is the number that decides whether one piece is enough for your hem.
- What does delivery cost?
- Prepaid orders over ₹349 ship free. Below that a charge applies, and cash on delivery is available if you would rather pay when it arrives.
- Will the colour match the photograph?
- Close, not exact. Every screen renders differently and metallics are the hardest of all to judge from a photograph — antique gold especially. Send us the shade you are matching to on WhatsApp and we will tell you honestly whether it is the right one before you order.
- I bought from the old shop. Is my account still here?
- Yes. Your order history came across, and you can sign in with the username you used before as well as your email address. If the password does not work, use the reset link and it will.
- Can I get a GST invoice?
- Yes, on orders over ₹20,000. Tick the box at checkout and give us your GSTIN, and we raise the invoice against it and email it once the order is packed — it does not come with the order confirmation. Below ₹20,000 the confirmation is your receipt.
- How do I find the same design again next season?
- By its article number — S4394B, TL5798D. It identifies the design on its own, and typing it into the search box at the top of any page brings it straight back.
