It takes dye readily, which is worth knowing in both directions: it will take a colour you want, and it will take one you did not intend from the garment next to it.
Cotton trims shrink slightly on first wash where synthetics do not. If the garment will be washed, wash the trim before applying it, or accept a small pucker along the seam.
