Parsi gara work is dense, multicoloured and floral, and it is unusual among Indian embroideries for reading well on both light and dark grounds. The borders in this part of the catalogue take that vocabulary onto a tape you can apply, which is a different job from embroidering a garment directly and a great deal faster.
Because the work is dense, these borders are heavier than they look. On a light georgette, tack before you stitch — the weight will pull a fine ground out of true if you sew it down under tension.
